The Story Behind the Code

The New York Chapter

Nearly two decades ago, three guys from India found themselves in New York at the same time.

Different universities, different courses, different lives — but the same city pulling them together. They were not building a brand back then. They were young, figuring it out, absorbing everything New York throws at you — the culture, the street style, the electric energy of a city where what you wear is genuinely a statement.

No time for big plans. Just friendship, late nights, and a city that quietly changed all three of them.

They came back to India. Life happened. Careers were built.

The Sixteen Year Gap

Neel grew up inside a three-generation family business built on yarn and textiles — fabric was not just a material to him, it was a language spoken at the dinner table. That upbringing gave him an instinctive understanding of construction, quality, and what separates a truly good garment from one that merely looks good. His obsession with skulls ran alongside all of this his entire life — not the scary kind, the cool considered ones — and eventually the two worlds collided. The textile heritage and the skull obsession. That collision is Skelton Code.

Karan built a digital marketing and branding agency — spending years helping other people’s brands find their voice, their audience, and their story. Learning what works and what is just noise. Building brands professionally while quietly carrying the wish to one day build his own.

Mikhil became the corporate professional who lives for Sundays. Weekdays in boardrooms, weekends on bikes — riding through early mornings and open roads, the kind of person who shows up for his people every single time.

2023. The Brand Begins

Sixteen years after New York, three best friends finally made the decision.

Not because the market told them to. Not because skull streetwear was trending. But because the obsession was real, the timing was finally right, and the friendship had been the foundation all along.

Skelton Code launched in April 2024 at The Coffee Rave — a collision of streetwear, sneakers, music, coffee, and community at Iron Buzz Tattoos and Mazi Coffee Bar in Bandra, Mumbai. The city showed up. The brand found its people immediately.

Since then — a sold-out debut at Lil Flea Mumbai, a retail partnership with High on Kicks, organic validation from some of India’s most recognised faces, and a growing community of people who wear the brand because they genuinely connect with what it stands for.

The 23

Every piece we make carries the number 23. It is not a random design element. It is the year the idea became a brand — a permanent reminder of the sixteen year wait and the decision to finally begin.

When you wear a Skelton Code piece with 23 on it, you are wearing the story of three people who believed in something long enough to eventually build it. That is what the code means.

What We Believe

We believe skulls are not morbid — they are bold. A symbol of living fully, dressing with intention, and refusing to be ordinary.

We believe premium is not a price point — it is a standard. Every fabric weight, every print technique, every sample that gets rejected because it is not right yet — that is what premium actually means.

We believe streetwear should have something to say. Not just look good, but mean something. Every Skelton Code product has a name, a story, and a reason to exist.

We believe the best brands are built by people who genuinely care — not by committees, not by trend reports, not by what everyone else is doing.
